How to Have Google Work for Your Property Management Company – For Free

This is John from Fourandhalf, and we handle Internet marketing for property managers. This week, I want to tell you how to get Google to work for you for free.

Google Search has one aim: to provide relevant search results. That is the foundation of their business. To achieve that, they have a sophisticated algorithm that picks out the most relevant sites and information for anything you enter in the search box. There are a lot of SEO companies out there trying to game this system. Not all of them will do this, but some will try and get you to the top of the search results by taking advantage of one or more vulnerabilities in Google’s latest algorithm.

Since Google’s entire business is to try and get past these “black hat” companies efforts and direct people to real, relevant content, why not just provide quality content from the get-go? If you use content marketing for your property management business, you have videos, blogs, pictures and other material that that Google loves to feature. If you honestly represent what is on your site and what your business does, Google has teams of incredibly smart people spending all day, 40 hours per week, trying to find your site. If you, use less-than-honest methods to promote your listing, those guys (and gals) are working AGAINST you.

If you want to simply pay money to be on the front page for a search term, Google has their own system for that, called Google Adwords, or “Pay-per-Click.” It explains why they don’t want the SEO guys to take advantage of them. Google wants you to do what they ask you to do, or they want you to pay THEM for a front-page listing – not the SEO companies. That’s how they stay in business.

If you are thinking about working with a SEO company and they seem to be promising you the world, remember that Google will be spending its time and money knocking you back down. If you simply put relevant content on your site, Google will pay their geniuses to find your site rather than block it. It’s a much better marketing strategy for the long haul.
