When it comes to names like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, Larry Page and Richard Branson – they all have one thing in common: they attribute much of their success to a coach. Consider for a moment, these are just a few of the hyper-performing influencers speaking on a topic that most others usually keep between themselves. It’s likely your favorite successful figure has had a coach of their own at some point in their careers.

Coaching can be important, and that is why today we’re talking about why getting a coach in property management is necessary for the growth of your company. We speak with the president of a successful company called Portola Property Management, also the founder of The Property Management Coach; Kathleen Richards.

The Day to Day For a Property Manager

According to Kathleen, as a property manager you are doing a zillion things all day long. You go to conferences and get all jazzed up and share ideas with your colleagues, however, when you get back to the office, you’re sucked back into the daily grind of the day-to-day work.

You have to deal with the owners and the properties and the vendors and employees. You never get to truly implement those great ideas and the thing that really holds back the property manager is that you are doing the job instead of working on the company.

How a Coach Helps Property Managers

So, how does coaching play a role in this? A coach will help the business owner get clarity about what’s important and what to focus your energy on. Coaching allows a business owner to take a step back, gain some perspective and put a plan together to execute without all of the distractions that happen in everyday life.

Many successful people who want to take things to the next level work with coaches. Think about how Olympians and executive CEOs depend on coaching. That’s because you need someone outside of yourself who can hold you accountable. Your coach can also see the full potential that maybe you can’t see yourself. When you partner together and your coach really pushes you to achieve your goals, your vision becomes something real and you are able to make those necessary steps.
